How to Stay Healthy During the Holidays

Making healthy choices throughout the holiday season is challenging. Holidays are a busy time of giving, spending time with family, and celebrating with friends. We are bombarded with parties, tempting foods, and opportunities to eat too much. Way too much. And, oh, those cocktails, they are everywhere. To keep up your health, make a self-care plan for getting through the holidays.

Why you need holiday self-care plan.

There's a reason that coaches of every type talk about the importance of making a commitment. When you commit, things seem to support you in keeping that commitment. If you decide to take care of yourself during the holidays, and commit to it, you'll likely keep that promise, and feel great instead of feeling burnt out.

"At the moment of commitment the entire universe conspires to assist you."
― Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

If you make a commitment today to take care of yourself NOW, you will better serve your community throughout the holiday season and into the new year.

Here's the hard truth: If you don’t take care of yourself, your immune system doesn’t function properly.

A run-down immune system leads to more colds, more flu, and more negative effects from stress.

Take time today, and write down what you’d like to see for this holiday season.

Write down how you will specifically take care yourself this year. Here are some questions to get you started:

  • What kind of healthy snacks can you prepare to keep you from eating too much junk?
  • Which exercise routine will be easy for you to keep up?
  • Should you find work-out accountability partners?
  • What’s most important to YOU this holiday season? Say, “No,” to everything else.

The original intent of the holidays was to take a break.

Instead, we speed up and live on junk fuel. Maybe it’s time to rethink how you do the holidays, and choose sanity and health.

Take a few minutes to answer the questions above. Make a plan for keeping yourself healthy during this time of revelry. Commit, then observe how good you feel because you chose your health.

And if you're feeling aches and pains during this busy, often stressful time, feel free to make an appointment for some chiropractic or massage care. We're here for you!
